The Cake Champions project was one of my favourite projects to work on. The company I was working for, Crystal Candy, decided to host an online cake competition that would run over the course of 3 months with participates entering from across the globe.
This was a very fast-paced project and a last-minute idea which turned into a great success.
The project involved graphic design elements – such as designing and creating various logos for the project. We finally chose the current logo because it symbolizes the theme for the competition well. We chose the colour palette for the competition based on the logo and supporting graphics created.
In this project, I was the sole designer at the company and was in charge for creating and maintaining all graphics, branding, photography, web design and maintenance, etc.
The next step with the project: creating the website.
I designed the WordPress website for the competition to be user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing. The website served as the main portal of communicating with the clients and hosted a variety of features.
All categories of the competition was featured on the website as well as entry forms and sign-up sheets. Participants could enter directly from the website, making their experience better. The website also featured countdowns for the competition deadlines and inspirational work from professional cake designers.
This project was first launched in 2020 and has since been a recurring competition yearly that is now internationally known.
Although I no longer work at Crystal Candy, the website is still up and running and ever changing as the competition changes every year.
